This Hand-Building Pottery Workshop is for beginners & experienced potters alike. Students will learn the basics of hand-building a cylinder, and techniques in sculpting and joining sculptured elements to make their very own face mugs. Beverages & sweets will be served and it will be HELLA ROMANTIC. Or maybe just regular romantic and fun, a perfect way to spend your Valentine's Day, and kinda the perfect date!

Students can pick up completed work after final kiln firings during our regular business hours. (Friday & Saturday 12-5), or if from out of town, we're happy to mail completed pieces for an additional fee.

SUGARHOUSE CLASS FAQ

What should I wear?

You can wear anything you like that's comfy or fancy, your call. If you're worried about getting your clothes dirty, feel free to bring an apron but clay is easily washable.

Is there anything I need to do to prepare?

Come with a good attitude and maybe a notebook & anything specific you might like to drink, though drinks will be provided.

This class is intended for independent adults. Anyone over the age of 20 is welcome.

Is your teaching space accessible?

It is! There is a handicap button at the front entrance door and a ramp to the elevator which takes you right down to our studio in the basement. We're happy to make any accommodations that you may need, and we also have a wheelchair accessible restroom in the building.

What happens if I am unable to attend a workshop I paid for?

Had the very best day, today, at Sugarhouse Ceramic Co, at their Birdhouse Building workshop. Such a great opportunity to spend time with friends, make new ones and, best of all, let the creativity flow in an inspiring venue. The team at Sugarhouse are amazing. They guided us through the build process and gave us the tools and the knowledge we needed to create pieces that reflected our unique personalities and visions. Thanks to everyone who shared the space with us today. We had a blast!

JENNIFER ROY

Loved being able to do a workshop with the folks at Sugarhouse Ceramic Co. Amber was a great teacher and encourager when I felt like things weren't going my way. (Everything turned out great in the end) It's a beautiful studio creating gorgeous ceramics and they have some artist supplies for sale as well.

DEBBIE MACLEAN

I took a workshop with Amber West and the instruction was perfectly paced; alternating demos and practice and running on schedule. Her teaching was so clear and easy to follow that everybody was able to turn out something really cool without struggling, despite most of us being completely new to clay. The studio space is really well designed and very ergonomic and their working space is beautiful and the store space is dangerously tempting. Will definitely be back!
